This individual will be responsible for directing and overseeing the company's labor relations programs and is responsible for the overall design, implementation, communication, and administration of the organization's employee development programs. Ensures and maintains satisfactory labor-management relations, interpret collective bargaining agreements, administers grievance procedures including arbitrations and assists all levels of management on labor matters. Performs studies of personnel and uses results to develop and implement training courses. Ensures that the programs support the organization's strategic objectives. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Leads and directs the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Labor Relations:
• Administer labor contract: Provide advice and counsel to management contract interpretations and practices.
• Negotiate and apply Collective Bargaining Agreements, maintaining close working relationships with International and Local Unions.
• Provide direction and support to facility management on each step of the grievance procedure.
• Administration and processing of grievances advanced beyond local management and local union level including arbitrations.
• Support strategic planning for the organization relating to labor costs: wages, benefits and staffing.
• Works within the Human Resources Department to direct and coordinate activities such as employment, employee relations, contract administration and training.
Organizational Development:
• Leads planning, development and implementation strategies and goals for employee development and training.
• Works with business groups to identify and prioritize development needs.
• Develop training programs and materials: soft skills, technical skills, leadership & business vision.
• Researches new training techniques and modifies existing training programs.
• Source internal & external training or trainers to meet needs.
• Facilitate employee development activities at all locations.
• Support business units to deliver training.
• Develop and implement a training records system.
• Develop and coordinate related activities that integrate Human Resource systems affecting employee development & training: Performance Reviews, Employee Development Goals, Employee Improvement Plans, Succession Plans, Advancement, Talent Acquisition & Retention, Employee Engagement.
Qualifications:
• BS/BA required in a related area and at least 7 years of experience in the field.
• Experience with unions and administration of collective bargaining agreements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Power Point.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with various levels of management within the company and externally.
• Familiar with a variety of human resource concepts, practices and procedures.
• Professional competency in Coaching, Facilitation, Training.
