Develops Human Resources policies and programs for a Manufacturing/Distribution Plant to include; organizational planning, organizational development, employment, training, employee relations, compensation, benefits, safety and health, and employee services. Originates Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide a balanced program throughout all departments. Assists and advises management on Human Resources issues and interacts and communicates with all levels of employees on a daily basis.
• Formulates and recommends Human Resources policies and objectives for the entire company
• Determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morals
• Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resources functions; monitors exposure of the company; directs the preparation of information requested or required for compliance; approves all information submitted; acts as primary contact with labor counsel and outside government agencies
• Protects interests of employees and the company in accordance with company Human Resources polices and governmental laws and regulations; approves recommendations for terminations; reviews employee appeals through complaint procedure
• Directs a process of organizational planning that evaluates structure, job design, and manpower forecasting throughout the company; coordinates activities across department lines; evaluates plans and changes to plans; makes recommendations to management
• Establishes wage and salary structure, pay policies, performance appraisal programs, employee benefit programs and services, and company safety and health programs; monitors for effectiveness and cost containment's
• Establishes standard recruiting and placement practices and procedure; reviews variances to schedules
• Defines all Human Resources programs; provides necessary education and materials to management and employees – workshops, manuals, employee handbooks, standardized reports
• Selects and coordinates use of Human Resources consultants, insurance brokers, insurance carriers, training specialists, labor counsel, and other outside sources
• Conducts a continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices to keep top management informed of new developments
• This position is a supervisory position as prescribed by federal and state statues, and requires experience in hiring; performance evaluations; work assignments; merit increase, promotion, and reclassification; discipline and discharge; and complaint and grievance resolution
• Performs all work in accordance with all safety procedures
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and (5+) in Human Resources Management.
• Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or Professional in Human Resources – California (PHRca) is a plus
• Must possess strong knowledge of California Employment Laws
• Experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred
• Union experience is a plus
• Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred
• Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues
• Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
• Detail orientated with excellent organizational skills
• Advanced knowledge of HRIS, preferably Paylocity
• Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
